Dear Russ,
We were so so so sorry to learn of your beloved Penny’s passing. So shocked.
Please know we have extremely fond memories of yourself and Penny all those years back. Such a shame that life happens and we kind of all lose touch. Always thought of you both especially when we saw a boat. Always made us think of you two. Penny was always such the life of a party. So so sad to know she’s no longer with you. Our hearts and prayers go out to you.
Much love, Kathy and Rick Prince

Our Deepest Condolences

We will miss our beautiful spirit Penny Barr. Her breezy character, brilliant talent & genuine spirit of friendship towards us and others is like no other. Walt & I will always remember the nite we came to a Tadman party. He was timid & stunned ... you rushed over, took his hand and welcomed him to the group of people he now calls friends!
The zest for life and compassion Penny held is well known to us all and so appreciated! We, well I for certain, could never get enough of you! On stage, in print, or quietly conversing whether family or friend Penny was true! Blended with wit and kindness. A more than interesting gal who was our spice of life! You will be dearly missed Girl.
Rest well.
We will forever adore you.

I will miss Penny's cartoons and the giant personality that created them. The world is a better place for her having been here, but a sadder place because she has left us. Peace to you Penny. You really knew how to live!!

In the summer of 2018, my husband and I were renting out one of the Bluffers Park float homes while we were putting up our Downtown Core condo up for sale. The contrast, from where we used to live for 10 years and staying at the Marina, was dramatic and heavenly!

Soon after we moved in, Penny invited us to join her congregation of friends having cocktails on the dock next door. I dont believe Ive ever met a person with such an open heart, mind and spirit. From the start, she took me under her wing and showed me how to live life on the waterfront- from how and what to feed the swans and their cygnets, to what to order at the Dogfish Pub, and perhaps most of all- how to enjoy life to the fullest with friends and family (so much so, I wanted to retire and move down to join her lovely community, but I could not).

I will miss Penny, but her bright light lives on within me, and the memories of the great moments of her friendship she shared with me.

We had many wonderful years with Penny and Russell as good friends and neighbours at BPM and even after we moved from there.
Her talent and beauty were an inspiration to us all.
Penny became a part of our family so much so that our young granddaughter seriously declared (after a visit on Drawn Aboard) that she had inherited her artistic abilities from Penny.
We will ever appreciate her cleaver wit (she dubbed us Irie and Cleanzie McKenzie and will always be, as she said, our forever neighbour.

Words cannot express how deeply sorry we were to hear of Penny's passing. Our sympathies to Russ and family, and their many close friends/extended family. Rob and I have had the pleasure of knowing Penny and Russ for the past 13 years at Bluffers Park Marina. Penny truly was a treasure and we will miss her very much, including and especially her artistic talents and wonderful singing. No matter what, Penny always had a smile on her face and knew how to make everyone laugh. I will miss seeing her daily cartoon posts on Facebook and her throwback photos from days gone by. Gone but never forgotten. Sleep well Penny.

Russ:

I was stunned by the news and so sorry for your loss. I know words can't take away the hurt you are feeling but my thoughts are with you in your time of grief. I just regret we didn't spend more time together in the recent years.

Penny filled our lives with happiness and good feelings that we will carry in our hearts forever. She will be missed by many and her memories will be cherished forever.
