PETER BOLLAND Obituary

March 9, 1934 – June 24, 2025 Dr. Peter Gerald Bolland, M.D., passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 91, just weeks after the loss of his beloved wife, Margaret. Married for over six decades, theirs was a love rooted in faith, partnership, and family - a bond that now continues beyond this life. Peter was a man of remarkable conviction and compassion. A family doctor for over 60 years, he cared for generations of patients in his Mississauga community. He was the longtime medical director of Sheridan Villa and served as president of the Ontario Long-Term Care Physicians Association for more than 25 years. A founding Director of the Loyola Arrupe Corporation, he was the inspiration behind a seniors' affordable housing residence in High Park, Toronto. A dedicated advocate for Catholic education, he helped secure public funding for Catholic high schools as a trustee with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board. His commitment to service extended globally as well - he participated in medical missions to underserved communities in developing countries, offering his skills to those most in need. From a young age, Peter was an athlete; he loved baseball and played football at St. Michael's College School. Golf and tennis were lifelong hobbies shared with Margaret and friends. Peter's strong work ethic was evident throughout his life - as a young adult prospecting in the north to practicing medicine until he retired at the age of 85! At home, Peter brought that same energy to his family. A devoted father of twelve children, he and Margaret ran a busy household. Summers were filled with memories at the family farm on Lake Huron, and winters were filled with snowmobiling and coaching hockey. He also owned and raced horses, creating lasting memories and friendships. Peter was clever, full of humour, and a natural storyteller. His warmth and presence leaves a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Peter was predeceased by his sister, Anne Prucha; and grandchild, Whitney McWilliam. He is survived by his 12 devoted children, 37 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry forward Poppa's legacy of kindness, integrity, and love: children, Patrick (Christine), Anne Marie (Cameron McWilliam), Margie (Chuck Doherty), Peter (Shirleyanne), Paul (Jack Kent), Bill (Lori), Tom (Annie), Dan (Monica), Mary Fran (Tom Knapp), Bob, Sarah (Shane) and Richard; grandchildren, Blaise (Jackie), Jack (Gabrielle), Kalyn, Mary Michelle (Ian), Abigail, Morgan (Jessica), Whitney (deceased), Molly, Malcolm (Shivani), Sean (Sylvia), Kristin (Mike), Maggie (Rob), Bridget (Brandon), Dillon, Erin (Jeff), Peter (Michelle), Joe (Cassie), Brendan (Holly), Lauryanne (Zach), Samantha (Graham), Caroline (Scott), James (Lauryn), Jean-Matthieu (Tori), Nate, Cas, Rachel, Reese, Garvey, Leo, Marika, Greta, Grace, Frank, Eddie, Aidan, Tristan, Gabriella; and great-grandchildren, Harvey, Hadlee, Hendrik, Rocket, Liam, James, Grace M., Owen, Fynn, Hannah, Liam, Hudson, Nolan, Boden, Emma, Ethan, Ella Anne, Makayla, Tyler, Dylan, Peter, Brooks, Scarlett, Drake, Peyton, Beau, Isla, Sophie, and Holden. His life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and dedication, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. A special thank you to Father Steven Kwon and Father Ed Murphy for their spiritual guidance; and to his caregivers, Natalie, Greta, Julie, Phyllis and Harman. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Turner & Porter "Peel Chapel", 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga. Peter's Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 4, 2025, at 12 p.m. at St. Christopher's Church, 1171 Clarkson Rd. N., Mississauga. Reception after Mass in St. Christopher's Church Hall. Final interment at St. Joseph's Kingsbridge, August 24, 2025. At Peter's request, if desired, please consider a donation to the Compass Food Bank. I was very sad to hear of Dr. Bolland's passing. He was our family doctor for over 65 years, delivering myself and my four brothers all over 55 years ago! Dr. Bolland always had a smile on his face calling me "Pumkin" whenever we had to go the the Doctors office and he always "fixed" all of our ailments, some even after hours! He was the true meaning of a great doctor and we were lucky to have him as ours.

So sorry to hear about Peter´s passing. Margaret and Peter were amazing human beings with big hearts. My husband had two double lung transplants in Toronto. They were so kind to let me stay at their home. We spent many evenings together having great conversations. They touched many lives and will be missed by many. May God Bless them and their families during this difficult time.
