Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Peter McKergow passed peacefully on September 12, 2025. He was predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Elinor (2018), and will be deeply missed by his children Brock (Barb) and Mary Lynne (Andy); grandchildren Chloe, Owen, and Reid; brother John (Karen); sister-in-law Cathie (Allan); nieces Jodi, Tracey, Kristin, Caley, and Kate; and dear friend Wendy Deeks. Born in Montreal to Arthur and Madeline McKergow, Peter's life was full of adventure, hard work, and plenty of laughs. He taught skiing at top Quebec resorts, including serving as Director of Skiing at the Puffin Ski Club (Sinclair) in St-Sauveur. While earning his BA at Sir George Williams University, he also worked in the engineering department at Trans-Canada Airlines. In 1965, Peter moved west to Victoria, BC to join Dominion Securities, returning to Quebec a year later. Back home, he met the love of his life, Elinor, at the Inn in St-Sauveur. They married in 1968 and built a life together filled with family, travel, laughter, friends, and adventure. In 1978, they relocated their young family to Toronto, where Peter spent nearly four decades with RBC Dominion Securities, retiring in 2004 "to work on charity boards and his short irons." Peter loved the game of golf almost as much as the people he played it with. He was a proud member and past president of The Toronto Hunt Club and enjoyed winters at University Park Country Club in Florida. When he wasn't on the course, he looked forward to his annual salmon fishing trips with the "boys" in Gaspé, Quebec - a tradition that lasted for decades. Whether teeing it up locally or around the world with ISAG's, casting a line, or firing up the BBQ at home, Peter was happiest with good food, good friends, a glass raised, and a laugh to share. His quick wit and dry humour will be remembered by all who knew him. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated ICU team at Toronto Western Hospital, especially Dr. Jeff Singh, Dr. Ian Randall, and the incredible nursing staff, for their care and compassion. A private funeral will be held. A celebration of Peter's life will be held on Thursday, October 16th from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Please reach out to the family for further details. lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association (
