PETER SIDORCHUK Obituary

PETER SIDORCHUK It's with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Peter Sidorchuk on October 22, 2023 at his home in Scarborough, just after his 87th birthday and surrounded by family. He was an engineering graduate of the University of Toronto and proceeded to a rewarding lifelong career with the Scarborough Board of Education. Peter was a man of deep integrity who approached everything he did with the discipline of an engineer and the heart of an artist. People were his greatest priority. Special thanks to his many caregivers for their love and dedication. Remembrance service at The Cathedral Church of St James, 106 King Street East, Toronto, ON on Monday, November 20, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception.

Dear Ruth,
I watched the ceremony to remember and honor Peter's life. The homily was very moving and meaningful to me.
As you know, Peter and I were classmates, lab partners and friends for 4 years at U OF T. Unfortunately, we were out of touch for too long but I still remember meeting him each morning in the lecture hall of SPS.
Trudy and I would love to reconnect with you. I'll call you in a few days.
Love, Harold.

Dear Ruth, Jim and Jane,

I´m so sorry to learn of your loss, which was shared at St. James where Cindy and I now worship. I´m also grateful for Peter´s wonderful life and all he gave through it. He was a steadfast and loyal friend to my parents, for which they often noted. My first memory of a "wine and cheese" was at your house! I also remember as if it were yesterday Peter helping me and Jim bake a cake (a train design, I think) for a Fairmount competition. I can´t remember how we did but I seem to recall him doing much of the detailed work, which makes sense given his engineering skills. We were all blessed to have him in our community, and hope his goodwill inspires many still. I imagine the loss is deep, and in many ways can´t be filled. But I hope you feel his enduring presence through all he gave, and share the belief that he will enjoy the peace that passes all understanding.

Dear Jim, Ruth, Jane and Family,
We're so very sorry about the passing of Peter and we offer our sincere condolences. We count Jim among our dearest friends and know that he's the person he is largely because of the nurturing, guidance, intellect, generosity, and loving heart of his father. We know this is such a sad time for all of you, but our hope is that the wonderful memories and lasting impact Peter had on each of you will carry you along during these difficult times.
With love and deep sympathy,
Scott & Mary

Dear Ruth, Jane and Jim, we were so sorry to hear about Peter's death. He was a wonderful colleague and friend, who will be missed by many people. I have so many wonderful memories of visiting schools with Peter when he was the Area Superintendent in my area of the Scarborough Board of Education and I was a new trustee of the Board. Later, he and you, Ruth, were also our friends. He will be missed. Thinking of you all, Eva, Michael, Sarah and Emma Nichols

Mr Sidorchuk was a great teacher at D&M Tomson CI, I didn't realize he studied Engineering. I followed him into Engineering after graduating high school!
