Peter WREN Obituary

PETER JOSEPH WREN 1945 - 2022 It is with profound sadness that we share with you the loss of our dear friend on November 29, 2022. He leaves behind his Wren family, Warren, Pauline, Trevor, Sue, Terry, Janet, Graham, Chris; nieces and nephews; his godson, Elliott; and friends and colleagues too many to mention. Born in Australia, he immigrated to Canada in the early 70s. He rose from humble beginnings to become a Vice President at the Bank of Montreal and was highly respected in his field. Peter travelled the world and formed life-long friendships which he particularly nurtured in his retirement years. His appreciation of the arts, cuisine and fine wines was shared with many of us. As well as being well read, he himself became a published author. Peter loved a political debate and was never fearful of expressing his opinion. We always knew where he stood. Besides being unique in every sense of the word, he had a tremendously positive influence on our lives. Peter will be sorely missed. We will pay tribute and celebrate his life in the New Year. Date to be announced. Donations may be made to Inside Out Film Festival Toronto and Casey House.

I'm so sorry I didn't try harder to reconnect with Peter. We worked together at the BOM, International Department, during the mid-70s, until I moved to Ottawa. Peter was a true, open-hearted friend. We enjoyed sandwich lunches watching the noon-time plays somewhere upstairs along Yonge St. We also shared many tips and trials of renovating our old houses, his near High Park, mine near Woodbine and Danforth. We frequently met at the St. George St. subway each morning, and continued down to the bank together. After work, we joined the money traders at the bar under the TD Centre. We had good times.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. I worked with Peter Wren in the 80's and 90's when he was the Executive Producer of Fruit Cocktail. He was amazing. I did see him in 3 years ago at Inside Out and we had a wonderful long chat. A really great man and pillar of the LGBTQ community.
