Philippa WROBEL Obituary

WROBEL, Philippa
(nee Osler)
1931 - 2015

Peacefully and unexpectedly passed away at the Saint-Luc Hospital in Montreal on December 10th, at the age of 84. Daughter of the late Philip Osler and Audrey Stewart. She will be dearly missed by her son, Mark (Alev); her grandchildren, Tarquin and Camden; her sister, Eve Hampson; her nephews and nieces, Philip (Cheryl) and Beatrice (Alex MacKenzie) and by many other relatives and friends. Pippa will be remembered fondly for her courage and determination in her struggle with glaucoma and for her extra large heart that cared so deeply not only about those around her but about humanity itself and the plight of our world.
A memorial service will be celebrated at the Collins Clarke MacGillivray White funeral home chapel on Monday, December 21, 2015, at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alliance For Equality of Blind Canadians, Montreal Chapter.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.
While Pippa and I only became close friends after her first glaucoma crisis, for at least 20 years we shared losses and successes and still knew how to enjoy living. Pippa was very much appreciated as an active member of the Montreal Association for the Blind Users Committee and a charter member of the Montreal Chapter of the Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians.
While Pippa may have relinquished her love for acting with her sight loss she continued on to the end as a choral singer but her last performance at the let's Talk Advocacy night won the audience's heart. Pippa may have lost some sight but she never lost her vision!
My recollections of that presentation brings a smile to my face and helps relieve the sting of losing her. With many loving memories,
Irene

Pippa, I so admire you and will miss you every day. You were such a dear friend to me and such a brave soul dealing day by day with your near-blindness. I still can't imagine driving to choir without you. A piece of joy and courage has gone out of my world.

To Mark and family:

My deepest condolences at your loss.

I only knew your mother briefly as I joined the Cantabile Chorale this season. Your mother was a faithful and dedicated chorister who worked hard to learn her pieces, considering her loss of sight. Your mother was very much appreciated by the director and the choir members. Be assured of my prayers for her and your family at this time.
