PHYLLIS JEAN (FITCH) FOWLER Phyllis Jean (Fitch) Fowler, born May 7, 1927, died peacefully on July 31, 2021. Born and raised in Calgary, AB, Phyllis obtained a B.Sc. (1948) in home economics then interned and worked as a dietitian in Edmonton. It was during this latter time that she met her husband of sixty years, Eldon, and together they built their family and lives. Phyllis was devoted, caring, supportive, energetic, stoic, strong and a profound source of compassion, selflessness and love. She made friends easily (many for life), was a committed and active member of her church and community, participated in a number of non-profit organizations, often in board positions, and was involved with CGIT for many many years. Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eldon, and is survived by her admiring and loving family: children, Brenda Carey (Bruce), Bruce Fowler (Jill Fenaughty), Donna Lessard (Paul), Ian Fowler (Merril Schmitt); six grandchildren, Marilyn Carey (Patrick Sullivan), Graham Lessard (Shannon), Neil Carey (Kathy Drouin-Carey), Andrea Lessard (Jason Hargreaves), Evan Fowler (Eleanor Bull), Brett Fowler (Diane Stolte); 12 cherished great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gary Fowler (Lesley); sister-in-law, Margaret Fitch; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by brother, Doug Fitch and sister, Wilda Hurst. Phyllis will be sadly missed and forever loved by all. Many thanks to the home-care services at Devonshire Village for helping her maintain her independence. A private family Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m., and will be live-streamed (
ssucedmonton.com/live) so her many dear friends and extended family can also attend the Celebration. Memories of Phyllis would be much appreciated at
