SAZIO, Ralph Joseph With profound sadness, the family of Ralph J. Sazio announces his passing on September 25, 2008. Beloved husband of Rose for 61 years. Much loved father of Mark (Liza) and Peggy (Daniel). Adored grandfather of Marc, Matthew, Maggie, Michael, Becca and Jake. Loved brother of Jerry (Dorothy). Ralph will be missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ralph was born July 22, 1922 and grew up in South Orange, New Jersey. He attended the College of William and Mary on scholarship, where he excelled at football under the legendary coach, Carl Voyles. After a stint in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, Ralph played for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the All-America Football Conference before rejoining Coach Voyles in Hamilton in 1950. He spent many successful years with the Tiger Cats as a player, coach and executive, epitomizing the spirit of Hamilton. His decision to join the Toronto Argonauts in 1981 shocked the CFL but Ralph always rose to a challenge, his efforts rewarded with another Grey Cup ring. While much will be spoken of Ralph as a champion of the CFL, being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988, Ralph will be remembered for his community involvement as a member of many boards and charities and for his kind and generous spirit. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
