Ralph TIBBLES Obituary

RALPH EARNEST TIBBLES July 30, 1932 - February 13, 2022 Ralph passed away on February 13, 2022 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by Marilyn, his wife of 57 years, in 2013. Ralph will be sadly missed by his loving family, including his children, Lee Anne (Curtis Olson), Thomas (Adrienne), and Anthony (Michele); his grandchildren Pearce, Alana, Evan and Megan Tibbles, Celine Wadhera (Aaron Shapland), Lisa Olson and Whitney Rippel (Richard Marquardt) and great- grandson Grayson. He will be lovingly remembered by his partner Marlene Lieskovsky, sister Norma Joyce, and his cousin Bill Tibbles. Ralph was a pioneer of graphic design in Canada. He was involved in important design projects for MacLaren Advertising, including work for Canada's Centennial and the Canada wordmark. He was Art Director for both MacLean's magazine and the Toronto Star. Ralph then headed his own graphic design company for many years. Internment is planned for summer 2022. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity in Ralph's memory.

Just today (Nov 1st 2024) I learned of Ralph´s passing ...
It was 10 years ago today I last saw Ralph ... lunch at the Hudson Tap Room in Calgary ... with Ralph his daughter Lee Anne her husband Curtis ... and my cousin Rick ...
My condolences to you Lee Anne... your dad and his wife had a tremendous influence on me !!!
They encouraged many of my interests ... your dad : drawing,
your mom : birds, ...
They enriched my life ...
It wouldn´t have been the same without their presence !!!
Wishing you the best Lee Anne ... pass that along to Curtis too !!!

I worked with Ralph as the project editor on a couple of books at Madison Press Books in the early 1990s. he was a great designer and a wonderful guy, and he influenced my work incredibly.

Dear Lee Anne and family, my most deepest and heartfelt condolences, in the loss of your dear Father, grandfather, brother Ralph, both he and Marilyn were very dear friends of mine and we frequented St. James Cathedral. He will be fondly remembered as a gentleman, soft spoken, with a kind and wonderful heart. We had many conversation about advertising and the love of photography. He shall be remembered in spirit, always!

Ralph was a great editorial art director who along with Peter C. Newman was responsible for saving Maclean's Magazine. I was proud to succeed him and his legacy. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed. RIP Sir. -ciao angelo sgabellone

I was blessed to have met Ralph on a few occasions and even shared a few meals with him during my time in Calgary. He was a lovely person and he will be greatly missed. Thank you for your time and generosity of spirit, Ralph.
