RICHARD JOHN DURLEY

July 13, 1937 – March 21, 2025 Born on July 13, 1937, John was the beloved son of the late Tim and Margaret Durley. He embraced the world with curiosity and determination from an early age and set sail at 17 on the Cape Adan as a Merchant Marine. John formed many enduring friendships through LCC, McGill, UBC, and Sir George Williams. He built a successful career at RoyNat. A lifelong athlete, he ran many marathons, including the Boston Marathon. His love of biking took him through many countries, with cherished friends by his side. His hardworking spirit and self-reliance were evident as he renovated his farmhouse with his own two hands. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Carolyn/Deea (Daryl) and Tara (Darrin); his granddaughters, Kaitlin, Meaghan, and Darcy; his sister, Naomi Durley Bree (Barney, late); and his nieces, Alexandra and Heather (Leighton). He is survived by his partner, Marie Lou Boyle, and will be remembered by many of his longtime friends. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no memorial.
