Richard FORSAYETH Obituary

October 23,1956 – August 20, 2024 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Richard ('Rick') Forsayeth. He died peacefully in his sleep of a heart attack. He was 67. Rick was predeceased by his parents Erin and Michael and leaves behind his brother Michael (Janet), his nephews David (Erin) and Jack (Julie) and their families, Clara George, his partner and love of his life, and her two daughters Madison and Jayden, his Sundridge family including his stepmother Ginger Forsayeth and his brothers Robert (Heather) and Andrew (Fiona) and their families. He will be missed by many, but in particular by his "core four" of Dr. Roger Buckley, Randi Richmond, Shelly Cook and David Harcourt who loved him dearly. After receiving his formal education at St. Michael's College School followed by Queens University, Rick took to being a model in magazines and doing television commercials. Then, as an extra in the 1982 movie High Point that featured the famous stuntman, Dar Robinson, Rick was involved in a spectacular unscripted car chase accident that put him in the hospital. The scene was kept in the movie; Rick got paid for it as a stunt and Rick the stuntman, later stunt coordinator, was born. Over his forty plus years in the film industry Rick worked with the likes of Tom Cruise, Jackie Chan, Keifer Sutherland, Michael Douglas, Mark Wahlberg just to name a few. He has over 120 television and film credits to his name including: Police Academy, Kids in the Hall, Cocktail, Forever Knight, F/X: The Series, X-Men, Around the World in 80 Days, Alien vs Predator, Star Trek: Discovery, Resident Evil, The Sentinel, RoboCop and, most recently, The Umbrella Academy. Rick lived large. He touched so many lives, in so many places, over so many years and everyone he touched was better for having known him. Every memory of Rick brings a smile. Everyone loved Rick. A private Celebration of Rick's Life will be held at a future date for family and invited guests. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we encourage you to consider donating to Covenant House (covenanthousetoronto.ca), a favourite cause that Rick supported. Condolences may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.

Way way too late, I am writing, but I just saw this and my heart broke. I was the director of a film, Tuxedo, with Jackie Chan, on which Rick was the stunt co-ordinator; not an easy job on a film rife with political strife. Through it all Rick was the consummate, professional, gentleman and down to earth good person that you could count on for an honest, smart opinion. What an amazing spirit!

My condolences to the family, loved ones, and all of Rick's friends and colleages. I have known Rick for over half a century both as a friend and competitor in the Cdn Stunt Industry. Rick was one of the "good guys" in our industry. Rick was an athlete and multi-disciplined as a performer. IN "HIGHPOINT" we worked together on a gag as militia men in a jeep being chased by a helicopter (SC was Carey Loftin).
I was the drivdr , Rick n Shane Cardwell were standing on the back as we flew off a ramp; they were catapulted off the back and I ended up approx 49 ft but under the jeep. Rick had broken his ankle, Shane seemed OK and I survived thanks to a Caliente hard hat I had glued inside my workers hard had. Such were the tales of the early days of Cdn Stunt performers. Rick was a "top notch" performer and used these experiences to make a name for himself as a great, solid, Stunt Coordinator in ACTRA.
Rest in peace my brother...

I am left with wordless sadness at the passing of my dearly loved friend. We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul. Over many years/decades, different locations and time between contact, I always knew Rick was still my friend, a steadfast pillar. I cannot wrap my head around that Rick´s physical being is no long here but I know his spirited soul will always be with us. After these tears pass and my heart heals a little, I will forever smile when I think of you Rick.
To Michael, Janet, Clara and the rest of the Forsayeth family and friends I extend my deepest condolences and my heart is broken with you.
This photo was taken at Eric Drinkwater's cottage circa 1980, it is my quintessential memory of Rick, it has lived on my fridge first in Toronto, then L.A. ., next Kirkland, WA, now in Ancaster and forever here. RIP my dear friend.
