Richard KNOWLTON Obituary

RICHARD KENT KNOWLTON Kent passed away peacefully, holding our hands on August 27, 2023. He was our beloved husband, Dad, Gramps and best friend. The most loving, loyal human, he was married to Joanne for 48 years. He spent 50 amazing business years working with Caterpillar dealers and had lifelong friendships that spanned 80 years. He is survived by wife, Joanne; daughters, Lindsay and Julia (Matthew); granddaughters, Victoria and Lily; and siblings, Tom (Jan), Patsy and Melanie. Predeceased by parents, Grace and Bill; and siblings, Betsy and Peter. His passions in life were as vibrant as his spirit. Kent's love for golf, skiing and friendship flourished through his memberships at Rosedale Golf Club, Osler Bluff Ski Club, and The Granite Club. These communities provided the backdrop for countless cherished memories and shared experiences. Kent will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will live on in our hearts, and his legacy of love, laughter and kindness will continue to inspire us. A private service will be held to celebrate Kent. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Meagan Bebenek Foundation in his memory, a cause close to his heart.

I first met Kent at camp up on Lake Temagami in the mid 60's. I often had the pleasure on our canoe trips of being in the bow of the canoe while he was in the stern. He was always joyful and positive and made life fun especially when we were going down the rapids! Over the years I've had fond memories of having Kent and Joanne as neighbours and good friends. I am extremally sad for your loss, he was a wonderful person. Sending lots of love, Roberta Somerville McFadden

Dear Joanne and family,
I am so very sad for all of you in your loss of Kent. Joanne, I still remember your wedding 48 years ago. I have known Kent and all the Knowltons for most of my life and have many fond memories. The years at Cedarhurst Beach will always make me smile, Kent always had such a fun outgoing personality and you knew when he was around there would be much laughter. He was also a very loyal friend of which he had many. I know he will be greatly missed by so many. My sincere sympathy to you Joanne & your children. I hope your heart will be filled with all the happy memories of your shared life.
With loving thoughts,
Judy Gough Crothers

Dear Joanne and family,
I wish to express my condolences to all of you. My mother and father knew
Grace and Bill and I grew up in Forest Hill knowing Kent's whole family. I was roughly the same age as Tom, but I'm also connected to Patsy spending Summer at Thunder Beach. My heart goes out to you in losing such a cherished man. I will keep you in our prayers.
With love,
Pamela (Gough) McNamara
