Richard LAPRAIRIE Obituary

RICHARD THURSTON LAPRAIRIE "Mostly forgotten, now definitely gone!" A member of the "Lap" LaPrairie clan under the love of his mother Beatrice Kelly. The clan consisted of Paul, Rosemary, Jules, Richard, Leon, Carl, Jacqueline, Clifford and George, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews in three generations. I have requested no funeral. Send flowers to a friend or a donation to Camp Oochigeas - in support of childhood cancer. Richard's clan would like to thank his lovely caregivers; Fely, Rosel, Noemi, Flordeliza and Sumathy for their dedication to Richard in the past few years.

I just hear about Richard's passing. I got to know Richard when I managed the Condominium building he resided in. Always a gentleman and a please to speak with. Allan Nolan

My sincere condolences to Richard's family. Richard was an amazing supporter to the Craft community in Ontario. He was involved on the Ontario Council Board (now Craft Ontario) in the early years of its merger and has received the distinct leadership award from the community - John and Barbara Mather Award in 1984 for his tireless contribution to the handmade object. Thank you! Gilles Latour - Past President and past recipient of the Mather Award.

Don & I are very saddened to learn of Richard's passing. He is the most interesting person we have ever met and that came about through our mutual friends, the Horwoods. I hope and pray that Richard knew how greatly he affected our lives when he became involved in Camp Ooch with his selfless generosity. I know beyond doubt, that Denise will thank him personally. Our sincere condolences to all the family.

Besides being a brilliant man, Richard always defended the vulnerable people. Did things his way even if he had to break traditions

Lisa and I always very much enjoyed our visits with you, from the time we lived on Sherbrooke, until we reconnected at your home/art gallery on Hazelton. What a wonderful cousin you have been. You will always be warmly remembered that way by both of us. Thanks for the great "Lap" reunions at your home. With love, Laura and Lisa
