RICHARD MONAGHAN Obituary
(September 13, 1945 - January 5, 2026) Richard Douglas Monaghan, 80, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, on January 5, 2026, in Burlington, Ontario. Richard had a long career as a teacher and educational administrator. Before retiring, he served as a Special Staff Officer for Language Policy with the Canadian Defence Academy. His many talents found expression in art, music and storytelling, in his love of obscure Latin documents, sailing and his ear for the humour in almost everything. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Dennis; and his sons, Michael and Christian. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Barry, David and Jill. Richard also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Eamon, Liam, Sean, Clara, Cameron and Max, who brought him immense joy. Richard's dear friends, the Diamonds, the Burfords, and a large extended family mourn the loss of their kind and forever humorous friend. He will be remembered for his wit, curiosity and warmth - qualities that filled every room he entered and every friendship he made. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
