Rita HILDER Obituary

HILDER, Rita Mary,R.N., B.Sc., M.S.W.
Rita Mary Hilder died peacefully, at home in Toronto, on Thursday, March 14, 2002, at age 83. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Hilder, and the recent companion to James Adamson. She will be lovingly missed by her family: David Hilder, Judy Sainsbury and their children Justin and Eleanor; Brett Hilder and Nancy Scurr; Warren and Alison Hilder and their children James and Laura; Lara and Peter Liederman and their son David; and by her friends, relatives and neighbours from Toronto, Montreal, Nova Scotia, and around the world. Those who have known her will dearly miss her bright sense of humour, wonderful stories and her enjoyment of life's ups and downs. Rita often said, ;If the afterlife is half as good at this life I will be well satisfied, and heaven is a painting trip in Santorini.; She loved art, loved to travel, entertain friends and neighbours and found great joy in helping others and bringing people together. Rita was a Nursing Sister in the Army during W.W. II, serving with the Medical Corps in Canada, Great Britain and Italy, and retired from a career in social work at the Scarborough Board of Education. Rita was a member of the Toronto Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), a true friend in nurturing the spirit of everyone she met. We have been blessed to have known her. Please share your cherished memories of her at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME
A. W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (South of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 21st and Friday, March 22nd. Funeral service will be held at the YONGE STREET QUAKER MEETING HOUSE, Newmarket (Hwy. 11, north of Mulock Drive), on Saturday, March 23rd at 11 o'clock. Interment Friends Burial Grounds. It would be Rita's wish that donations be made to the Toronto Monthly Meeting and/or Camp NeeKauNis, c/o Friend's House, 60 Lowther Avenue, Toronto M5R 1C7, in lieu of flowers.
