(August 3, 1948 – September 16, 2025) Robert John Bushnell (Bob, or affectionately known as Geke or Chief) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Maryska; his son, David (Rebecca Hester); daughter, Elese (Trevor Allin); and his five beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke, Reid, Emma and Finley. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Bushnell; and sister, Margot Bushnell. Born and raised in Toronto, Bob spent his formative years at UCC, where he forged lifelong friendships. He cherished summers at the cottage, where he embraced his love of waterskiing and golf. After a brief stint at Queen's University where he majored in "bridge", Bob set his sights on becoming a Chartered Accountant, a goal he accomplished in short order. He went on to co-found McDaniel & Bushnell CA, where he had a fulfilling and successful career. In his younger years, Bob didn't always make perfect choices, but one decision that earned full family approval was marrying Maryska, his true partner with whom he shared all of life's joys and challenges. Together they built a loving home, welcome to all, filled with warmth, laughter and memories that were created to last a lifetime. Bob provided unwavering support to his kids, whether coaching, listening or lending a hand, he was always present. He never missed a game, recital or performance, always there to cheer on his kids, and eventually his grandkids. Bob was a wonderful father, but being a grandpa was his favourite role, one in which he truly shone. His favourite possession was a t-shirt that read, "My Favourite People Call Me Grandpa." He wore it often and with pride. Bob was pragmatic, courageous and principled. He had a steady presence and a deep sense of loyalty to those he loved. Though he is no longer with us, Bob will remain ever present in our hearts and minds. A celebration of life will be held at Rosedale Golf Club (1901 Mount Pleasant Road) on Monday, September 22nd, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Holland Bloorview (
