CARNEY, Robert James PH.D Professor Emeritus, University of Alberta
Born November 3, 1933, died Nanaimo, B.C. December 9, 2009. Survived by his beloved wife Verlie; children Brenda Sully (Dave), Sean (Mimi), Mark (Diana), and Brian (Julie); grandchildren Christine, John, Tomas, Grace, Finn, Michael, Sophia, Amelia, Tess, and Cleo, one brother Joe (Tanya). Predeceased by his brother Fred.
Bob wore many hats, literally and figuratively, during his career, but it was as a Professor and later Chair of the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Alberta that he spent his most rewarding years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Trinity Catholic Church, 6234 Spartan Road, Nanaimo on Saturday, December 19th, at 11 a.m.. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fr. C.M. McCaffery Endowment Fund, Foundation of Newman College and St. Joseph's Seminary 8421-101 Ave., Edmonton, AB, T6A 0L1 or to the Alzheimer Society of B.C., 300-828 West 8th Ave., Vancouver, B.C.
