Bob and I were work colleagues in the computer industry back in the early 1980s. In recent years we communicated a lot by email and enjoyed many discussions about politics and finance. His stoic attitude towards his illness reminded me of Alex Trebek. I will miss him and his wonderful photos of Toronto. My condolences to Anita.

Lots of great memories Bob. You had the gift of friendship and a life well-lived.
Sorry about the pancreatic cancer that unfairly singled you out. I'm sure you
struggled with hope and courage. That would be you. Condolences to Anita in this very sad time.
Catch you up the road Bob. Bruce Donald (MHS 1967)

I am so sorry for you loss, Anita. It was both a pleasure and a learning experience getting to know Bob while I was Chair of the Philosophy Department at Waterloo. His love of philosophy and his sincere desire to make things better for students was always obvious. His advice about things like how to make a successful pitch to potential donors (like him!) was extremely useful.

I have fond memories of having a chance to get to know both Bob and you better at a celebration of distinguished alumni a few years ago. And more recently I have been able to share with him a "this darned chemo is getting in the way of my workout routine" attitude he brought to his health issues, which I could relate to 100%. I will miss him, the amazing photos he took on his morning walks, and his sometimes quirky humor. He was a unique and wonderful guy.
