FORSYTH, Robert William
Rob died in Stratford, Ontario on Monday, September 11, 1999. Rob was born in Saskatoon, on September 10, 1949. He graduated from York University in Toronto. A prolific screenwriter with a voice that was both poetic and audacious, Rob remained deeply connected to his Saskatchewan roots. He was revered by his peers and adored by his friends and family. His devotion to his wife Martine and his son Luc was absolute, and he embraced every life experience with an openness that was almost daunting. Even the cancer that ultimately killed him was not viewed as an enemy: ;My illness, he said recently, ;is my teacher. Rob is survived by his wife Martine Becu and his son Luc Forsyth, of Stratford and by his parents Austin and Ethel Forsyth of Saskatoon, sisters Judi Walker, Margret Forsyth and Linda Cooney, and eight nephews and nieces. He was predeceased in October by his sister Mary Kelly. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 142 Ontario Street, Stratford, at 11 a.m. The family is grateful for all the kindness and loving care that Rob received during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Stratford General Hospital through the W.G.
