Robert GIMBY Obituary



GIMBY, Robert Stead (Bobby),
Order of Canada, ('The Pied Piper of Canada'), passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20th, 1998 at 79, in North Bay, Ontario. Beloved son of the late Elsie and Albert, brother of Jean of Abbotsford, BC, Gerry of Marsden, Sask. and Marion of Little River, CA, husband of the late Grace Katherine, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lynn Melody Gimby-Bougerol and her husband Pierre of Toronto, Ontario and Paris, France, granddaughter Elizabeth and devoted friend Violette. Funeral service to be held at Deer Park United Church on Wednesday, June 24, at 4 p.m. Reception at the church to follow. Cremation with interment at a later date in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of Canada. In a final letter, Bobby wished to share the following: 'To all Canadians, especially the children: You allowed me to live my life, and my love of Canada, in music. Your generosity and spirit inspired the songs in my heart to trumpet the pride of the nation. And for that, I'll be forever grateful. May you all keep well, and young at heart.'
