Robert "Bob" Heidinger passed away peacefully at Heidehof Long Term Care, St. Catharines, Ontario, on March 15, 2026, at the age of 93. Born March 3, 1933, in Hamburg, Germany, Robert immigrated to Canada in 1954. He is survived by his second wife, Martha (Kristek) Heidinger. He was predeceased by his first wife, Ligita (Bardins) in 1988; his parents, Clemens and Nelly (Harms) Heidinger; his brother, Gerd; and Martha's children, Thomas and Vivian. After settling in Canada and studying accounting, Robert worked with TD Bank as an auditor and branch manager. Robert and Ligita eventually settled in Welland, Ontario. In the 1970s, he became a securities broker with Crang & Ostiguy, building a successful investment practice in the Niagara region with his partner and friend, Al Learn. Following his retirement from RBC Dominion Securities, Robert assisted Martha with her Niagara Falls bed and breakfast, the "Derby House," where he was proudly trusted with one role - car park jockey. Robert enjoyed golf as a longtime member of Lookout Point Country Club and loved playing gin. A self-taught tinkerer, he built his own computers and audiovisual systems and was also a self-taught pianist. He found joy in Sunday mornings listening to German radio while playing gin, first with Ligita and later with Martha. He will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful man. He is survived by his sons, Peter (Karen Sutton) and Steven (Christine Majeran); grandchildren, Bryan, Michael and Eric and Steven Jr. and Cooper Heidinger; and Martha's grandchildren, Amalia (Moir) Makkar, Nigel and Oliver Moir. The family thanks the staff at Heidehof and Grace Gomez Hall for their care and support. A private cremation was arranged through George Darte Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a
charity of choice in Robert's memory.
