ROBERT LIVINGSTONE INNES "Bob" September 14, 1929 - January 26, 2024 Robert "Bob" Innes, beloved husband of Gillian Ann Innes (nee Stiver), of Calgary, AB, died peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the age of 94 years. Born in Hamilton, ON, Bob grew up and went to university in Ontario before moving his young family to Galveston, Texas, and a decade later, back to Canada to work in Calgary. Bob was forever the optimist, sure we were heading the right way down the hiking trail, sure that people would become more kind-hearted, sure that the world would become a better place. He loved shepherding his family and friends into the beauty and magic of nature. He was happiest and most at ease paddling a canoe, sailing his Sunfish, or skiing and backpacking in the Canadian Rockies. He was gentle, funny, generous and honest, and made no distinctions among people, abhorring inequality and discrimination. Bob's career in hospital administration began in Toronto at the Ontario Crippled Children's Centre, followed by the Shriners Burns Institute in Galveston. In Calgary, he was executive director of the Alberta Children's Hospital, where he helped design a new hospital focused on child-centered community prevention. Upon 'retirement,' he supported health systems development with Tsuut'ina and Siksika Nations. Siksika Nation honoured him with the Blackfoot name Saa Kii naamabKa (Running Across). He sat on several community boards, all focused on promoting equity and health. Bob is survived by Sacha Kenward Innes (Greg Foord), Guy Livingstone Innes and Melissa Plaunt Innes (Chris Malley); and two grandchildren, Grace Gillian Elander and Ethan Livingstone Elander. Though his life was long and full, Bob's love and kindness will be so very missed by family and friends. In June, a gathering of Bob's community will take place in Calgary to remember Bob's life. At Bob's request, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Miskanawah, 2340 1 Ave. NW, Calgary, AB T2N 0B8, Telephone: (403) 247-5003 Ext. 2,
