I got to know Jim through a mutual friend when he was a member of the SOD ski team, we became pretty good friends for many years and shared a passion for golf and tennis and enjoyed many outings at both, I got to know the entire family very well and remember well how the welcomed me into their home and chalet. Although I had not seen Jim for about 30 years I had always hoped we would reconnect. To Mrs Kirby, Doug and the rest of the family my sincerest condolences on your loss. Bob Leonard

My first, and best friend as a toddler and next door neighbour was Jim Kirby and we were inseparable as young children. When our family moved to Mississauga when I was in 3rd grade we were separated but still saw him at the peaks, as I grew up and we both ski raced as young teenagers and I lost touch with him when I transferred to private school in the U.S and later moved to the U.S. I tried to reach him about 7 years ago when I was briefly living in Thornbury, Ontario but was unsuccessful. I'm back in South Carolina and was heart broken that I never got to reconnect with him. I will always remember him as my best buddy as a child. I know how talented he was and hope he is in heaven and happy and I will never forget him. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends that will miss him. Love, Kym Welton
