Robert MAY Obituary

ROBERT JOSEPH MAY Robert (Bob) Joseph May passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2021, in his 86th year. Bob was born in Norval, Ontario to Lawrence and Gwen (Mason) May on the 30th of January, 1936. He lived most of his life on the land that has been in the May family since 1834. Bob leaves his beloved wife, Beth (Oldham) of 66 years. They were blessed with three children; Debra (Douglas), Kathryn (Thomas) and David (Barbara); eight grandchildren; Patrick (Meaghan), Kristina (Andrew), Bradley (Danielle), Jessica (Mark), Ryan (deceased), Mackenzie, Joshua and Lauren (Craig) and five great-grandchildren, James, Benjamin, Annie, Thomas and Parker. Bob was co-founder of Maple Lodge Farms, Canada's largest, independent poultry processing company. More than 65 years later, Maple Lodge Farms is a Canadian success story. Bob cared about his community, he happily volunteered and supported his church, the Chinguacousy Lions Club, the MS Society, The United Way, various other charitable organizations and political parties. He was awarded The Brampton Board of Trade Business Person of the Year in 1997. Bob was his happiest at his cottage in Muskoka, enjoying time with family and friends. Windsurfing, boating, having barbeques with a fireworks display were among his favourite things to do, not to mention singing into the wee hours of the morning. It was never a surprise to see Bob pull up to your dock on his windsurfer looking for a cool refreshment. There will be a private family service in the near future. The family will hold a tribute to celebrate Bob's life at a date to be determined. The family would like to thank the team at Amica Georgetown for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's honour to Norval United Church, The Kidney Foundation of Ontario, or, a charity of your choice. So very sorry to hear of that Bob has passed away. I will always remember fondly the crokinole parties at Bob and Beth's, visits with my mom and Dad (jim and Beth) and of course card games. To Beth, 66 years of memories that are yours to treasure at this most difficult time of parting. Debbie, Kathy and David: your Dad was a pillar of the community and I'm sure is resting peacefully knowing his legacy continues with all of you! My heart goes out to you at this time with Deepest sympathy, Cathy

Beth, I extend my sympathy to you and all the family on loosing a fine gentleman, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Emily and I shared several memorable holidays with you and Bob on the Island of Nevis, but only once did we climb to the top of the mountain. A climb etched in the memory bank, never to be forgotten, but joined with an array of other happy memories of happy times together. Murray Woods

Deepest sympathies to Mrs. May and family. Bob was a true gentleman always greeted you with his smile. A short visit at our family cottage with the May's many years ago created fond memories for the May's for many years later. David and Denise Parsons
