ROBERT PARNEY Obituary

April 11, 1937 - March 30, 2025 On March 30th, in the Town of The Blue Mountains, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Edmonton, the fourth and youngest child of Margaret and George Parney. He spent summers at the family cottage in Kapasiwin on Lake Wabamun and spent his youth working as a brakeman on the Northern Alberta Railway. He moved east as a young man but remained passionate about the west and railways all his life. He was forever an Oilers fan. In Montreal and Toronto, Bob embarked on a long and story-filled career in the investment industry. He met and married Jean and together they raised three kids, enjoying cottage summers at Pointe au Baril and later off-seasons in the Blue Mountains. Bob was interested in many different things and seemed to know something about everything - a Renaissance man. He had at least one tool for all needs and enjoyed working on projects wherever he was. There was always a place for everything and everything in its place - and he knew when it wasn't! Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Jean; much loved father to Jennifer Parney, Robin (Tim) Saunders and Chris (Danielle) Parney. Loving Grandad to Mitchell, Thomas, Matthew, Owen, Emma and Sarah. A dear brother to Anne Bawden, the late Ruth McKinley, the late Fred Parney; brother-in-law to Alexandra Baker and Ted Olver; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jasper Fire Caring Community Fund or the Georgian Bay Land Trust at GBLT.org. OLVER family of Collingwood

April 12, 2025

Our sincerest condolences to the Parney Family. We were fortunate to have spent some time with Uncle Bob before his passing. He retained his sense of humour and hospitable nature as always. Uncle Bob was someone that would give his undivided attention to you when speaking with him. We knew him as a generous and lovely man. My kids remember him on numerous occasions inviting us on a party boat rides at PauB, and being warm and welcoming. The first time I ever heard someone use the word `libations´ to offer a drink was Bob Parney. It was endearing and reminded me of the leading men in old movies. Class act Uncle Bob!! We will miss you. Cheers

Bob was a great friend. He was always gregarious and loved to tease and be teased. He had a wonderful sense of humour. He loved doing projects around the house.
His main love was his family and his dear wife Jean.
Bob left a large footprint and he will be missed. With love, Vicky and Tim

One of our classmates let me know of your father´s passing. I was so sad to hear the news. I will send out a note to our classmates. I thought of your Mother yesterday as it was her birthday. We had so much fun planning our reunions and our dinners together. My love and deepest sympathy to all of you.
