ROBERT DOUGLAS (DOUG) PEARSON Doug passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 12, 2022 in his 91st year. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Mary (nee MacKenzie); his four children, Martha (Randy Tait), David (Jenny), Brian (Theresa), Geoffrey (Jen); his 11 grandchildren, Connor, Devin, Kylie, Matthew, Danny, Grace, Ross, Claire, Jack, Abi, Ernie; his beloved grandpets, Kula, Betty, Wilson, Booker and Beauden; and extended family and friends. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Frederick Beverley and Mary Margery Ann Pearson (nee White); his brother, Lawrence (Larry); and sister-in-law, Norah. Doug was born in Kingston, Ontario and raised in Toronto. He attended Davisville Public School, North Toronto Collegiate and the University of Toronto prior to joining investment house McLeod, Young, Weir (now ScotiaMcLeod). In 1967, he and Mary relocated to Vancouver where they raised their family. A consummate family man, Dougie (as he became affectionately known) spent countless hours at a playing field, rink or equestrian ring. He was a dedicated supporter and fan of all his children's and grandchildren's activities encouraging them to "Skate Hard, Check Hard". A simple message that applied to hockey and eventually how one should approach any pursuit or activity. Dougie was a warm and engaging spirit who was loved by family and friends, respected and admired by all who had the good fortune to meet him. He is relaxing comfortably on his red couch with his best pal Madison by his side, sipping his 5 o'clock beer. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 20, at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a grassroots youth sports organization or a
Charity of Your Choice.
