ROBERT PYE Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Dr. Robert John Pye on January 29, 2025, in his 82nd year. A devoted husband to Karen Pye (previously Sneddon, nee Race) for over 32 years; and a loving father to Kevin Sneddon (Allison Shepherd-Sneddon), Rahat Pye (Tim Welsh), Jackie Pye (Steve McDonald) and Cindy (Don) Clearwater. He was a proud grandfather to Roxana, Ava, Asha, Inaya, and Gabby. Predeceased by his father, John (Jack) Pye; and his mother, Margaret Pye (nee Curry). A graduate of the University of Toronto in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery '71, Dr. Pye's professional journey was a remarkable one. For more than 50 years, he devoted himself to his practice. He started his career in Toronto, moving soon after to Burlington, and reaching both the Halton and Hamilton areas. He proudly retired in 2022 at 80 years. Dr. Pye's contributions to the profession went beyond his clinical work; he was deeply involved with the Ontario Dental Association, a pioneer in his field, and a highly respected colleague, mentor and friend to many in the dental community. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Bob had a diverse range of passions. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family, grandkids and his dogs. He enjoyed travelling, loved music and cars, had a strong palate for chocolate, and was an avid sports fan. Bob was a sincere, kind and gentle soul with a genuine curiosity and interest in everyone he met. And importantly, he had a great sense of humour. Visitation will be held at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333), on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5 - 8 p.m., with the Funeral Service held the following day in the Chapel at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow. Private Interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to The Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation or Hamilton General Hospital. www.smithsfh.com

I´m so sorry to hear of Bob´s passing. I´ve known Bob for many years as a colleague and friend. I always enjoyed our regular telephone conversations, where we laughed and joked about our profession, current events and the events that occurred in our lives.
May eternal light now shine upon you Bob, and may you rest in peace.
