September 21, 1938 - August 22, 2024. Our Dear Old Dad, Bob, passed away peacefully after a short illness. Beloved husband for almost 64 years, to Beverly, father of Shawn (Diane), Shannon (James), Erin (Douglas) and Tim (Cate). Grandfather of 10, and great-grandfather. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert Lawson and Margaret Tamar Maloon; stepmothers, Elva Chappell and Peggy Twigg; and his brother, Benton Searcy. Bob was born in Moose Jaw, SK., and graduated, cum laude, in 1960 with a degree in chemical engineering, from the University of Saskatchewan. He spent his professional life in Ontario, beginning at Cyanamid Canada in Niagara Falls, where he started his family and made life-long friends. A career move brought the family to Windsor in 1972, where Bob worked for General Chemical, formerly Allied Chemical in Amhertsburg. Not content to retire and relax, he transferred his talents to consulting in the late 1990s, working with General Chemical in Manistee, Michigan and EPCM in Windsor. Late in his career, Bob travelled to Sweden and the Netherlands to share his expertise. Bob was a natural athlete, enjoying basketball, softball, curling and running, which eventually ruined his hips and knees. He was also an avid fisherman, learning from his dad, and enjoying many hours on the water catching pickerel, which he called the "best eating fish in the world." Bob fished many lakes in Saskatchewan, the Great Lakes Huron, Michigan, Erie and the Gulf of Mexico. Bob and Bev enjoyed winter seasons in Marco Island, Florida, before travel became too challenging. Friends and family will agree that Bob enjoyed making and keeping connections with people, and found modern technology to be a useful tool for reaching out to old and new friends and staying in touch. The family extends deepest gratitude to the staff of the sixth floor, Windsor Regional Hospital, Met Campus, to the kind and caring professionals at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital for the palliative care, and to long-time, loyal friend Barb Mailloux, who cared for Bob like a family member. Bob's family asks that when you think of, or tell a story about him, you smile. A celebration of life is being planned for the near future. Please send a message to
