ROBERT WELLS Obituary
It is with shock and incredible sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Douglas Wells, from a coronary event on February 17, 2026. Doug was born in Toronto on November 1, 1967. He attended school in Haliburton, Toronto, Uxbridge and Lahr, Germany. Doug graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and from Centennial College with a Diploma in Environmental Protection Technology. Doug joined the Ontario Public Service in 2008, moving to the Ottawa area in 2020. As a Health and Safety Inspector, he was a passionate advocate for working people and dedicated to protecting others. Doug was committed to supporting community causes and was an active member of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. Those who knew Doug will remember him as hardworking, unwavering in his convictions and quick to laugh. He loved the outdoors and was most at home in the woods, on a lake or in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed fishing, hot sauce, good meals and time with family. Doug loved soccer and was a longtime supporter of the TFC and Liverpool FC. An enthusiastic traveller, Doug enjoyed experiencing new places, including his two-year adventure working and travelling in Nepal. Doug was deeply proud of his Scottish heritage, right down to his prized kilt and thistle tattoo. One of Doug's greatest joys was his beloved dog, Happy. They were inseparable and adored each other. Doug will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his entire family, including his mother, Heather MacLean; his stepmother, Anne Wells (predeceased by his father, Alan Wells); his siblings and siblings-in-law, Scott Wells and Greg Edwards, Stephanie Wells and Fred Horler, David and Kate Wells, Beth and Joel Hasler; stepbrother, Shawn MacLean; nieces and nephews, Zoe, Daniel, Tessa, Ruby, Henry, Maggie, Olivia, Mary and Aili; and by his extended family, friends and colleagues. Doug is survived by his wife, Patricia Wells (née Marin Cardona). A celebration of life will be held in the coming months. If you wish to make a donation in Doug's memory, please consider Threads of Life or the Kawartha Land Trust.
