(nee Cordell) August 4, 1969 – September 2, 2024 On Monday, September 2, 2024, peacefully and surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Loving wife of Jeffrey "Jeff" Sommers; and extremely proud mother of Owen, Hayley and Sydney. Born in Warren, Ohio, and predeceased by her parents, Robert and Helen Cordell. Survived by her brother, James "Jimmy" Cordell, his wife, Lisa and daughter, Riley. Robin was loved by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and other relatives and friends on both sides of the border. Robin earned degrees from the College of Wooster, where she majored in anthropology, and Case Western Reserve University Law School. While on an exchange program during final year at the University of Western Ontario Law School, Robin met her future husband and soulmate, Jeff. They eventually settled in Burlington, Ontario, and built their life together, focussing on their children, exploring the world and their love of cooking. Robin was a devout fan of Bruce Springsteen, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians (Guardians). Her ability to speak fluent Spanish helped save the day during many of the family's trips abroad. Robin's career at General Motors and Delphi Automotive included positions in Juarez, Mexico, Kokomo, Indiana, and Lewiston, New York. At each new job she made many lifelong friends. Robin's devotion to her children was limitless. When twins, Hayley and Sydney, were born prematurely, Robin spent each of the 89 days by their side in the neonatal intensive care unit ensuring they received the best of care. Robin gave far more than she received and has left a legacy of kindness, compassion, generosity and selflessness. She loved her rescue cats, Hobbes and Hannah and Jacob and Jemma. Many thanks to Dr. Dhesy and her team at the Juravinski Cancer Centre for taking great care of Robin over these many years. Cremation and a private service have taken place. Please consider adopting a rescue cat or donating to an animal shelter of your choice in memory of Robin. Memories can be shared online at
