RODNEY CLARK Obituary

'The Urban Oysterman' Rodney's Oyster House (January 9, 1950 - November 6, 2025) Sitting at the Captain's Table in the Oyster House - Rodney's office - writing this while listening to James Brown as the crew sets up for the day. I am writing my father's obituary, and I am oddly at ease. He really wasn't a sentimental soul. The fact is, he would hate the idea of this. To him it felt like – "Get the man a statue! The order of Canada! What a legend!" No, no. That wouldn't do. Pearls would be clutched. He put it perfectly himself as one of his final instructions to me. "I just want you to be happy." And that's it. That sums up his life in its entirety. He wanted PEOPLE to be happy. It didn't matter if you were his son, his daughter, his grandchild, his sister, his current wife, his first wife, his partner. Or his enemy, competition, idol, his doctor, his horse trainer, his friend, his crew or his guest. Rodney always said, "if you give a good person a good Oyster, you'll have them for life." Thank you, Rodney, for being OUR good Oyster. You most definitely have us for life. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.humphreymiles.com. Yesterday

We were regulars at Rodney´s - including a visit a few weeks ago when we were told Rodney´s health wasn´t great. Even though we lived in Bermuda, and now London, ON. When I was dating my wife we´d go to the original Rodney´s location. We saw him whenever we visited including a time when we were with our young son and it was almost Christmas and he gave us a tiny lobster to put on our tree. We did that today. And we had oysters - to celebrate a truly wonderful person. Rest in peace, Rodney. A wonderful person.

I played Beer League hockey with Rodney, who was a good goalie. I played defense, and he was always right on top of the action, directing traffic in front of the net. He was a good businessman, a good friend, a good family man, a proud Canadian. Well done, Rodney.
