Roger CRAWFORD

1942 - 2021

ROGER ALLEN CRAWFORD April 21, 1942 - December 6, 2021 Roger passed away at Bridgepoint Health Centre on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the age of 79 after a long battle with cancer and Lewy Body Dementia. Roger leaves behind best friend and wife Bess (nee Hillery), daughter Melissa, her husband Jim O'Hare and his grandson Riley O'Hare. Roger touched many lives including brothers-in-law John (2010) and Bob (2003) Hillery, and their wives Sue and Lucille. He was uncle to Shannon Wentzell and family Matt, Cooper, Madeleine and Mackenzie; Tanja Hillery (with family Clara and Seamus); and Patrick and Michael Hillery. Roger also leaves behind his nephew Stephen Crawford from Texas and niece Jennie Williford from Wisconsin, and was predeceased by brother Carter (2019). Roger graduated from the business program at Southern Methodist University, Dallas in 1964 and followed with an MBA from the University of Toronto in 1966. Roger worked in the Marketing Research department at Ontario Hydro (where he met Bess) from 1964 until he retired in 1992. Roger loved spending his time with his friends and family at his cottage overlooking the beautiful Ahmic Lake. Roger lived a rich life and said that he was one of the luckiest guys. The lasting effects of polio never held Roger back, and he frequently commented that he had done more in his life than he thought he could do, and appreciated the help of his family and friends along the way. Rog had many interests, including investing with his brother-in-law, French food and wine, renovating old Victorian houses, classical music, antique wooden boats, sailing, golf and of course, parties and beer. Roger was always the life of the party and his sense of humour will be greatly missed. Rog would insist that the party carry on and we should all have just a touch more wine before bed.
