Roger Jairus Maus obituary

Roger Maus Obituary

On August 13, 2024, surrounded by family, Roger passed away at home in Toronto. Most will remember his humour, integrity and love for family and sports. He went by many names – Grandpa Rog, Dad, Rog, Uncle Rog and Coach. His pride and joy were his children, Trina (Peter) and John (Tara). He lovingly became the "community dad," when the family lived near Ottawa, where he was often seen driving a van load of his kids and their friends to hockey or baseball, where he was often the coach. He was devoted to his triplet grandchildren, Ashton, J.P. and Taylor; and to girlfriend Mary Hatch's grandchildren, Gabriel and Elijah. Born and raised in Windsor, Roger spent most summers with his cousins working the fields of the family farm in Ayr. There, he fostered his passion and later career in agriculture. Summers also saw a lifetime of happiness at the family cottage on the Big Rideau. Roger is survived by his children, beloved nieces and nephews, and sisters – Elizabeth, Linda, Natalie (Colin), Peggy (Kent) and Laurie (Bob); but his parents, Dr. John and Shirley Maus, predeceased him. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will help fight the terrible disease. A service will be held in Ayr in September 13th.
