Roman BITTMAN Obituary

Roman Norbert Bittman
died peacefully on November 7th at Kensington Hospice in Toronto, surrounded by our Love and Gratitude. Born on June 5, 1941 in Fort Vermilion, Alberta, he grew up in a 'hunter-farming' community with his German father and Metis mother, later moving to Hay River, NWT. A film producer, businessman and avid reader, Roman had an enquiring and brilliant mind. His contributions to Canadian media and Aboriginal cultural organizations are many. Roman is known best for making the world a better place. When asked what quality he most valued in a friend, he said 'Acceptance'. How he would like to be remembered, he said 'Fondly'. Roman touched so many hearts with his gentlemanly kindness and generous spirit. He will be forever missed and held in the hearts of his beloved Marilyn, his children Liane (Robert), Philip (Anna) and Danielle, and his grandsons Thomas, Ben, Sam and Philippe-Jacques.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care at Mt. Sinai Hospital, particularly to Dr. Liz Amos; plus the caring staff at the Hospice guiding us through the last days.

The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday December 11th, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 477 Manning Avenue, Toronto. Donations to Kensington Hospice Foundation are greatly appreciated.
