Ronald DELISLE Obituary
Ronald Joseph Delisle (Doc, R.J.) B.Sc (Eng.) Queen's, LLB Queen's, LLM Michigan. Ron died Tuesday, March 12th, 2013, with dignity at KGH after a brave struggle with illness. During his time as a student at Queen's, Ron was a centre for the Queen's football team, and an MVP. He was drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos, but chose to go to law school at Queen's, where he got the gold medal in his graduating class. He came back to Queen's to teach law, where he won every possible teaching award. Ron was a Provincial Court judge in Kingston for four years. He chose to return to his real love of teaching Criminal Law and Evidence at Queen's where his students would say, 'If Delisle says it's so, it must be so.' He was an inspirational and engaging teacher who had a unique ability to get students thinking and debating. He authored many legal texts and teaching books. For many years he also taught and mentored judges across the country. His views were influential, particularly in making evidence laws less rigid and more workable. Above all he loved his family. He met his love Gloria when they were students together at Queen's. He has two sons, Marc and Chris (Jackie Decker), whom he adored along with their children, Alex and Sophia, Samantha and Olivia. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. We all had the privilege of gaining from his insights and enjoying his keen sense of humour and wonderful ability to relate a story.
He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.
