(June 17, 1933 – October 5, 2025) With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Ronald Alan Gould, who died suddenly and peacefully at age 92. Words cannot express the profound loss we feel as we remember Ron's life, well-lived. He will be missed dearly by his life partner, Susan; his son, Steven; and daughter, Lisa (Fred Kelih); stepdaughters, Lynn Chiarelli and Donna Chiarelli (John Cormier); his seven grandchildren, Chelsea (Sal Lagacina), Marika (Julien Finkem), Quinten (Lana Pell), Jesse, Matthew, Lena, and Colin; and his three great-grandchildren, Avery, Olivia, and Essie. Ron was predeceased by his stepson, Chris Chiarelli. Ron lived nine lives in one, and all of them were exceptional. He found joy and adventures in everything he did and made many friends along the way. Ron was an art collector, theatre and concert-goer, fisherman, hunter, cottager, world traveller, board member, volunteer big brother, and a dedicated spouse, father, and grandfather. Early in his career in 1959–60, Ron supported economic development of communities in the North, helping Inuit artists promote their early print-making and sculpture in his role as Chief of Market Research, Industrial Development and Tourist Promotion for the then-named Department of Indian and Northern Affairs. In his later career, Ron excelled to the highest level, earning the Order of Canada in recognition of his distinguished contributions to Canada's free and fair electoral system as Assistant Chief Electoral Officer, his lifelong dedication to the federal public service and extensive international consulting work advising on democratic electoral systems. A career highlight was serving as one of five international members on South Africa's Interim Independent Electoral Commission, supporting the country's first free and fair election. His recollections and the artifacts he diligently collected are safely stored at the Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg. A private memorial service will be held. Donations can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa or to Forests Canada. Rest peacefully. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Condolences/Tributes/Donations Hulse, Playfair & McGarry
