SCOINS, Ronald 'Ron'
Died peacefully, after a valiant fight against cancer, at the K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on the 13th of October 2002, in his 64th year. Loving husband of Mayda. Dear father of Sandra and her husband Paul, Nancy and her husband Andrew and Steve. Special grandpa to Brendan, Colin, Sam and Owen. Sadly missed by his mother Ina Scoins and his brother Ray and his wife Lois of Seaforth. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Rose Chambers of Cambridge and Joanne Colbourne and her husband Doug of Toronto and will be missed by his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Norman. Ron graduated from Seaforth District High School and the University of Western Ontario. He received his Master of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in 1973. He taught mathematics for 13 years in the secondary school system in K-W and later in the Faculty of Mathematics at University of Waterloo. He shared his passion for mathematics and teaching with students and fellow educators alike. He retired in 2001. Ron was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Ron's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening (Tuesday) and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo on Thursday, October 17, 2002 at 11am with Rev. Mark Harris and Rev. Tanya Varner officiating. Immediately following the service, friends and relatives are invited to remain at the church for refreshments and to visit with the family. Interment will be held in Parkview Cemetery following the reception at the church.
