Rosemarie JACKSON Obituary

ROSEMARIE JACKSON (nee Thierenbach) Rosemarie was born in Essen, Germany on September 3, 1931. Her childhood was tumultuous and her family scattered during WWII. In 1941, age 10, she was displaced to relative safety from her home in Northern Germany to Magstadt where she was taken in by the Hess family until 1948. She learned English and bookkeeping. In 1950 she travelled alone to London to work as an au pair for a kind family, the Mellion's, in Stockton Heath. A few months later her best friend Ingeborg Meindl joined her. In 1952 the girls sailed to Halifax and then took the train to Toronto on an impulse. Rosemarie soon met Peter Jackson at their place of work and they married in 1953. They enjoyed a happy marriage in Toronto until Peter's death in 2013. Rosemarie passed away on September 13, 2022 at the age of 91, surrounded by her adoring family. She was a loving mother to Linda McMaster (William) and Kathryn Jackson (Itai); grandmother to Will D. McMaster (Alex) and Elizabeth Malenfant (Jeff). She was a devoted Oma to great-grandchildren Evelyn, Lynden and Miles. Rosemarie was a great bookkeeper, loved her cats, gardening and had a lifelong passion for music, especially opera. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Toronto Humane Society.
