Ross McKELVEY Obituary



McKELVEY, Ross John (Captain), B.A., B.P.H.E., B.Ed.
Peacefully, at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, on Sunday, February 1st, 1998. Beloved husband of Lorna (Cunningham). Loving father of Rob (Australia). Brother of George, Gregg, Brian and the late Gweneth Moores. Grandfather of Kate and Amanda (Barrie) and Iain (Australia). A longtime North York secondary school Teacher and member of the Weston Golf and Country Club. During World War II he served in the Merchant Marine and was a member of the Royal Canadian Service Corps, Denison Armoury, and the Fort York Legion Branch 165. A distinguished athlete, he was a noted T.D.I.A.A. track and field champion in the early 1940's. He was a member of the O.R.F.U. Toronto Indians, Balmy Beach, and the Toronto Argonaut Football Clubs. He was a Queen's University Hall of Famer. Thanks to the staff of Wing C4 at Sunnybrook, and a special thanks to Dr. J. D. Robertson for so many years of care. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Avenue), Weston, (416) 241-4618, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel on Wednesday at 2 o'clock. Interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunnybrook Foundation, the Ontario S.P.C.A., the Toronto Humane Society or to the charity of your choice.
