Ross WELLER Obituary

ROSS WALTER JAMES (Jim) WELLER 1936 - 2021 Jim passed away suddenly on Monday, June 7th. Son of the late Ross James Weller and Mary Eleanor Estelle (Keast), predeceased by his dear wife, Joan Edythe (Flatman) 2009. Proud father of Sam, Caitlin Williams (Kevin), and Alex (Kim). Loving grandfather of Chloe, Sophia and Chajah. Cherished brother of Joan Martyn (Donald) and Suzanne Formanek (Peter). Jim grew up in Forest Hill, Toronto when it was still a small village with close neighbours. Summers during high school were spent with Weller Construction (est. 1841). Graduating from Architecture at U of T in 1957, Jim joined the architectural firm, Gordon S. Adamson, became a partner, and participated in the active building projects during the 60's. In the early 70's, he started his own firm, James Weller Architecture and Planning Consultants. Moving to Ottawa in the early 80's, he became a Founding Partner of ARA (Applied Research Associates). As a Consultant in Ottawa and Merrickville into the 90's, he worked with Indigenous Communities in Northern Ontario on housing, health facilities and programs. Jim, always a creative artist, gardener, and chief family chef was able to enjoy living for many years in his personally designed home on the Rideau in Merrickville sharing time with his children and riends. Upon retirement, he became a strong supporter of the Merrickville Artists' Guild exhibiting in many exhibitions and studio shows. Along with his wife, a gifted pianist, he participated in community life and events. During his last many years, Charleen Milne shared a caring, supportive and loving friendship with Jim. A service was held at Lannin Funeral Home in Smith Falls on June 18th. If wished, a donation in support of truenorthaid.givecloud.co would be appreciated.
