Ruth CARVER Obituary
CARVER, Ruth
Ruth Carver, one of the grand dames of London, died peacefully, on Saturday, December 19, 1998, after having spent 81 years demonstrating the meaning of joie de vivre. Known for her wit, wisdom and irreverance, she relished her reputation as being a Tory power broker, and founding member of an esteemed women's book club, named in her honour. An all round great party gal, Ruth also owned and operated her own business, Carver Title Abstracts, and for many years she could be found at the registry office holding court with judges, lawyers and journalists alike. She survived her husband Stuart, but leaves behind her son Tony, daughter Debbie, daughter-in-law Tracy Carver, son-in-law Jim Tobin and grandson Jack Carver. A private Funeral Service is planned this week. An Open House is being held on Monday, December 28th from 2-4 p.m. at Grosvenor Club in London, to celebrate Ruth's life. Tributes will begin at 2:30 p.m. The family invites you to join them in toasting this local legend.
