What I remember most about Ruth was her kind and gentle spirit mixed with curiosity and liveliness
She was a dear and treasured friend of our mother Geraldine and a supportive godmother to our brother Philip
Ann my best wishes to you and your siblings and extended family

Ruth was a woman before her time. She was gentle and passionate about her role as a mother. I looked up to her and she and Bob were the finest example to follow. I remember all of you when you were still very young and kept track of you through your parents. You will miss your Mom.
Our thoughts are with you all.

Back in the '90's when Ruth worked, as I did, as a title-searcher in the Toronto Registry Office I would look forward to talking with her about birding. She got me started in that pastime and I am so grateful to her for the encouragement and information she shared. Her keenness for bird watching spread to another title-searcher as well and he and I both owe many years of enjoying that to Ruth's inspiration.
Reading this lovely sketch of her life got me remembering about those conversations. Once I mentioned that we were having a problem with skunks in my neighbourhood. Ruth then countered with a story about the skunk that got into the basement of her house on the morning of her wedding day. The image, as she told it, of her in the white gown while keeping the door going downstairs firmly shut, persists.
Best regards to her family, grieving and celebrating the memory of a fine person.
