Sachiko MORIYAMA Obituary

With great sadness we announce that Sachiko "Sachi" Moriyama, wife of the late Architect, Raymond Moriyama, passed away quietly and peacefully, with her family by her side, at Bridgepoint Hospital, in the early evening of Saturday, June 22nd, after a sudden downturn in her health. Predeceased by her parents, Shizuo and Tomiko Miyauchi and Tameji and Tsuruko Miyauchi; her younger brother, David (Betty); sister-in-law, Joan Hatashita (John); and brother-in-law, Kenichi Takigawa (Irene). Sachi will be sadly missed by her loving family: her sisters, Totsy (Sway), Judy, Irene, and Betty; brother-in-law, John; sister-in-law, Margie; her five children, Michi (Joan), Murina, Midori (Loubert), Jason (Munhee), and Ajon; her ten precious grandchildren, Jessica (Evan), Stephanie (Donald), Steven (Melody), Mason (Nicole), Jacquie (Jackson), Michael (Giulia), James, Mariko (Daniel), Lauren, Akiko and Seah; her two awe-inspiring great-grandchildren, Tristan and Conway; and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; as well as her many, many relatives and very dear friends. Sachi was a loving, generous, intuitive, creative, gentle soul. She was the inspirational muse for her late husband, Raymond, for over 91 years (they first met when he was just two years old and she was just two months old: it was love at first sight!). Sachi was truly one of a kind. She will be forever loved and remembered for her beauty (both inside and out), gentleness, grace, generosity, dedication, understanding, thoughtfulness, kindness, consistency, calm, uncanny intuition, loyalty, and her welcoming inclusive nature. Our sincere gratitude and thanks to all the wonderful medical caregivers and support staff at St. Michael's Hospital and Bridgepoint Hospital; with extra-special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wm Sullivan, Dr. Tsang, and nurses, Yodit and Anna. Funeral will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto M4T 2V8. Visitations on Sunday, July 14th, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral on Monday, July 15th, 10:30 a.m. A brief Visitation at 9:30 a.m. will precede the Funeral. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Toronto Buddhist Church, Moriyama Nikkei Heritage Centre, or a charity of your choosing.
