Sally was the loving sister of Wendy Kasta; and daughter of the late Raymond and Winnifred Hergert. She will also be fondly remembered by her dear in-laws, Elizabeth Harmer (d. Bob) and John White (Ari); along with many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Sally was a gifted kindergarten teacher and lifelong educator. She was a proud graduate of Victoria College, University of Toronto, followed by a Primary Specialist certification. She devoted her career to teaching - sharing her patience, kindness, love of music (Sally earned her ARCT, Associate Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music) and passion for learning with generations of students.
After retirement, she enjoyed the University Women's Club of Leaside and is a past President. Sally was successful president of the board at her lake community for many years as well. Sally loved reading, her garden, and travelling. She was an avid sports fan. Sally had a lifetime of wonderful friendships.
Above all, Sally treasured her family. She was the adoring grandmother of Amanda, Tom, Alex, John, Matthew and Caroline; and the delighted great-grandmother of Emily Jane, all who brought her incredible joy and laughter.
Sally found peace and happiness in the company of loved ones and in the quiet beauty of her summers at the Lake, a place that always renewed her spirit. Her warmth, grace, and gentle heart will be remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pulmonary Hypertension Program Fund, at UHN Foundation, in gratitude for their extraordinary support.
