Sharon RUBIN Obituary
SHARON M. RUBIN It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Miriam Rubin, announce her passing on August 14, 2022, at The Moncton Hospital. Born Sharon Miriam Birnbaum on November 3, 1943. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Sheldon H. Rubin, her parents, sister, and brother. Sharon was born in Toronto, Ontario, and often shared many great memories of her childhood on Euclid Avenue. True to who she was, she maintained a relationship with many friends throughout her life. Sharon met her husband, Sheldon, the love of her life, while she was working with a Toronto stock brokerage firm. They were married on November 18,1972, relocated to Halifax shortly thereafter in order to continue Sheldon's medical training and finally settling in Moncton to raise their family. Throughout her life, Sharon was a contributing member of her community, remaining active and involved in groups such as Book Club, Investment Group, Probus, Hadassah, The Tiferes Israel Synagogue Choir, a supporter of the New Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, and various Bridge Clubs. She was an avid fan of klezmer and during COVID-19, she sang with a Canada-wide Yiddish choir on Zoom. Sharon enjoyed current events and world affairs. Family was the most important thing in her life. She took delight in all of the children as they came along. Her favourite place to enjoy family and friends was their cottage in Grand Barachois where many bonfires, family events and celebrations were held. Sharon had a heart of gold. She loved offering her homemade chicken soup and ensuring there was a seat at the table for family and friends. One of her proudest moments was the opening of The Dr. Sheldon H. Rubin Oncology Clinic at The Moncton Hospital in honour of her husband. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Gabrielle Rubin (Laurie); son, Mitchell Rubin; grandson, Ethan (Breanna); granddaughter, Madison; great-granddaughters, Bridgette and Ophelia; sister-in-law, Betty Rubin (Druckman); sister-in-law, Rosalyn Attis (Sanford); and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her, Michael Bloom (Karen), Michael Druckman (Tamar), Nicole Druckman (Jack), Marissa Attis (Rohail), Arielle Attis (Patrick) and great-nephews and niece. As we prepare to say goodbye to our dearest Sharon, the family would like to say a very special thank you to her caregiver, friend, and honorary family member, Lolita Jacinto, who provided her with impeccable care until her last breath. In addition, we would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Oncology Clinic at the Moncton Hospital for their tireless care, kindness and compassion. The Funeral service will be held at the Tiferes Israel Synagogue, 56 Steadman St., Moncton on Tuesday August 16 at 12:00 p.m. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) in care of arrangements.
