MEROVITZ, Shelley
(nee BRAIDBERG)
Daughter of the late David and
Pearl Braidberg of St. Catharines,
Ontario; and also predeceased
by younger sister, Mimi. Shelley
is survived by loving husband,
Gerry; and sister, Ann (Gary)
Posen; nieces, Sara Posen
Johnston (Russell, daughter
Hannah) and Lucy Parat (Daryl,
and James and Katie); and many
nieces and nephews. Shelley
was a graduate of Sir Winston
Churchill School in St. Catharines
and of the University of Western
Ontario, where she obtained a
degree in Philosophy. She was a
successful media planner for
General Foods, at one time
being responsible for such
products as Jello and Wrigley's
gum. Shelley fought a long and
difficult battle against early-
onset Alzheimer's Disease
Diagnosed in 2000, she spent
the last 12 years of her life in
Baycrest Hospital, the youngest
patient on her floor. Heartfelt
thanks to her personal care
provider, June Needham, who
tended her so lovingly for all of
those years. As well, the family
is grateful to Dr. Robert Posen
for the comfort he gave Shelley
through massage therapy. It was
one of her few joys in later
years.
Funeral services are planned for
Tuesday, December 22nd at 1:00
p.m. at The Simple Alternative
Funeral Home, 275 Lesmill Road,
in the Leslie/York Mills area,
followed by interment at the
Holy Blossom cemetery, at
Brimley Road, cremation section
Shiva following at: 3600 Yonge
St., Apt. 424. (Yonge St., south
of York Mills).
Shelley loved the people and the
animals in her life. Donations
made to your favourite charity
would be appreciated, in lieu of
flowers.
