Simon James MacDonald WOOD

With deep sorrow, we announce our dear Simon passed away with family at his side on June 7, 2024, age 59, after bravely enduring illness for almost a year. Beloved husband of Janet for over 29 years and cherished father of Nicholas Ethan Macdonald Chin Wood. He is deeply missed by sisters Carin Lake, Fiona Valpy, and mum Aline, as well as by his friends, business associates, and extended family in the UK, Canada, US, and beyond. Born in Welwyn Garden City, England, son of Helen (Aline) Macdonald Wood and the late Robin Wood. He settled in Canada in 1986, where he eventually rooted himself in the vintage clothing industry before founding his own successful retail business in 1994. He expanded into the wholesale market, which led to exports to England and Japan. Simon will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, dedication to family and friends, and for his sharp wit. Simon had a passion for music, films, reading, war history, fishing, skateboarding, watches and cooking, which brought him immense joy throughout his life. A funeral in Simon's memory will be held at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, ON M2N 5Z5, on June 19, 2024, from 1-3 p.m.
