I never met Sondra, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading her columns in the National Post. Her writing style seemed so open and honest and engaging and in fact her style gave me confidence to write myself. I'm sorry for your loss (actually, we all lost her to a certain degree), she seemed like a truly dynamic and wonderful woman!

Dear Rachel, Marc and family,
Your mother and grandmother was an exceptional person. Sondra held a place of great esteem in our family, particularly to my mother who always cherished their friendship.
A great light has gone out... May her incredible life give you solace during this difficult period.
Sending you much love -

I knew Sondra and Allan in Ottawa and Toronto through Richard Tait, Allan's colleague in External Affairs. I admired her up-ending the usual image of the diplomat's wife with her wit, talent, and energy. Her film 'True Confections', with Gail Singer, was a delight, as were her columns ...and her dinner parties. I'm in the movie business and felt that Sondra brought a show-biz panache to her role in Washington and the wider world. She was fun to be with!
