RAINER, Sophie (nee Roll)
Died peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2001, in Toronto, at age 93. A resident of Toronto, she also lived in Austria, Germany, Poland and Uruguay. She married in Berlin, and was widowed at the end of W.W.II. She is survived by her son, Manfred Christian Rainer, and wife, Virginia; grandsons, Roland and Emil; and her nephew, Dr. Peter Roll. Her brother, Gustav Roll, predeceased her in the U.S.A. in 1995. After receiving a degree in Horticultural Science in Poland, she devoted herself to management of flora in Europe and South America. In Canada, she worked for the Forensic Science Centre, formerly the O.P.P. crime laboratory. Crafts, Art, and Gardening were personal interests during her autumn years. She expressed her love of family through firm kindness and numerous acts of generosity. Religious funeral rites will take place at ST. GEORGE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 410 College Street, Toronto, on Friday, November 2 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery-her garden of the dead.
