Stan SOLINSKI Obituary

SOLINSKI, Stan T. (P.Eng.)
Our father Stanley (Stan) Solinski died peacefully in Ottawa, on April 3, 1998, at the age of 72. We loved him dearly and we will miss him tremendously. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and graduated as a Chemical Engineer in 1948. He then went on to work in technology, production and engineering for Alcan until his retirement in 1986. Dad enjoyed fishing, golfing and curling with his many dear friends in Arvida, Montreal, Florida and Ottawa. He was extremely proud of us: Mary, John (Lise), Kathy (Mitch), and we will miss his gift of laughter and generosity. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Sandra, Tania, Emma, Tyler, Anne-Sophie and Jessyca. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Kay Sloan (Kitchener), his nieces and nephews (Montreal, Kitchener, Vancouver), his cousins (Winnipeg, Regina, Texas), and many very dear friends. Dad is now reunited with our Mom Doris Andrews, his brother Jim Sloan and his parents Mary Wicijowski and John Solinski. We would like to sincerely thank the staff of St. Vincent's Hospital and Dad's personal caregivers, especially Lorraine Villeneuve. Family and friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, at Roosevelt, Ottawa, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 153 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations to an educational institution or scholarship fund would be appreciated.

My sympathy to the family. I remember Stan very well even if 50 years went by since, in the early 70´s. I was Mary´s boyfriend at the time. Stan was a quiet man, tall and joyfull as well as very comprehensive, full of understanding and patience. Rest in Peace Mr Solinsky. Richard
